North East Issan Temple Tour
If you are looking to visit temples in the Issan region and want to make a day of it, then there are three excellent candidates that will fill the day for you quite easily. One is location in Sakhon Nakhon, with the other two a little further on as you head towards the border with neighbouring Laos. It's your choice as to which order you do them but when we did this tour we saved the best for last, so suggest the following.
Wat That Renu, Renu NakhonFirst is one of two temples in the region with a tall Chedi in the complex. Not the tallest but this wat has much to offer the visitor and is very well maintained.

Wat Phrathat Phanom, That Phanom, Nakhon PhanomThe second temple features what I believe to be the tallest Chedi in the region at just over 53 m high.

Wat Phra That Choeng Chum Worrawiharn, Sakon NakhonPossibly the neatest temple I have visited in the region and it is packed with interesting features both inside the complex and in the adjacent car park. Certainly one to visit.
