Restaurants in Udon Thani
As the ex-pat community has enlarged, there has been a number of independent restaurants cum bars in Udon Thani popping up, where you can buy western style cuisines, and although normally cooked by Thai chef's, they have been trained and are supervised by the ex-pat owners, so the food you get served is up to what we call an acceptable standard and what you probably expected when ordering. Dining out in Udon Thani 'ex-pat style' is now as good as you will get in Thailand, with a good range of cuisines. However, restaurants do not seem to last forever in Udon Thani and even those that have been trading for a number of years and are well established sooner or later simply close down for one reason or another.
While most of these restaurants are near the nightlife areas that are of interest to visitors, there are a few other scattered around the city of Udon Thani. Each of the restaurants in Udon Thani listed below, are tried and tested by myself several times in recent months, and I do this on a rolling basis, to ensure the business I am advertising are keep up their high standards. All comments about individual restaurants are based on frequent visits to each establishment, and not purely on a single visit. As I am in Udon Thani city at least twice a week, I make a point of dropping in to at least talk to the business owner to see what is new, or what may be coming on the horizon so this website is up to date at all times.
I have included the big restaurant chains that seem to pop up in every city, in every country, although I rarely use any of these places for my dining out experiences, with exception of the Pizza Company and two Thai Barbecue Restaurants, who have never let me down (to date).
Many of the independent restaurants in Udon Thani advertise their business using large glossy banners that are tied to the side of the Tuk Tuk's that scurry around the city all day and well in to the night and early morning. You will sometimes see these Tuk Tuk's outside the restaurant so you can normally get a ride to your next port of call quite easily.

Udon Thani Restaurant Reviews
Chill Out Coffee
Chill Out Coffee is a small, family run restaurant that offers western food and highly competitive prices. The restaurant is a short distance outside the Udon Thani ring road, offering a peaceful location to enjoy some superb food.
The New Country Grill Restaurant
The New Country Grill Udon Thani is what replaced Le Country Grill in 2017. Competitively priced and in a quiet location away from the city centre, bars and massage shops. It's a good option for taking the wife or girlfriend out for a meal as there is also an extensive range of Thai meals available
Primani's Indian Restaurant
Primani's Indian Restaurant opened in early 2019, as is a most welcome addition to the culinary range on offer in Udon Thani. Reasonably priced, excellent food and friendly, helpful staff make for a good dining experience. Take away and delivery services are also available.
Fuzzykens Review
Fuzzy Ken's is a restaurant, Book Shop and Bar all rolled in to one, opposite the bus station in the city centre. It is open every day of the week, though only in the evening on Sunday, serving a small traditional English breakfast, Pies, Fish & Chips, Sausage, egg and fries, Sausage & Mash, Cheeseburger and Fries, a wide selection of sandwiches including Cheese & Tomato, BLT, Bacon etc.

The Irish Clock
The Irish clock is another bar cum restaurant serving good, traditional English meals. Located very close to the Day and Night Complex, and a group of hotels, it has become a highly popular eatery in Udon Thani. The Irish Clock doubles up as a guesthouse too, offering decent although limited accommodation.
Sampan Fish & Chip Shop
Located at the northern end of Soi Sampan Thamit, the fish & chip shop was a welcome addition to the Udon Thani nightlife area when it arrived. So if you like a traditional of fish n chips, this is the place to head for.
Baan Bongkotch Restaurant
The Baan Bongkotch restaurant is at the southern end of Soi Sampan Thamit and offers a wide range of Thai food and very reasonable prices. They are doing something right for sure as they are pretty busy most days.
T Bar Restaurant
The T Bar restaurant, which specialises in Indian curries, is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in Udon Thani. It is located outside of the ring road is far from obvious (and why it has taken me a few years to discover it). Indian meals are just a small part of the menu with steaks, stews, pasta dishes, sandwiches, pies and more are available. Open 10:00 am – 10:00 pm daily with takeaway and local delivery available. GPS location - 17.396011, 102.830220
Luca Pizza
Luca Pizza is about half way up Soi Sampan Thamit offering a good range of Pizza and Pasta dishes. It is certainly popular and they are happy to provide for large groups.
Good Corner Restaurant
At the main entrance to Nutty Park is the Good Corner restaurant. It offers a good range of European dishes, along with an equally large range of drinks, served by a pleasant team of Thai ladies. It is open from 8 am, and all through the day to 10 pm, every day.
Good Everything
Good Everything is considered by many as one of the leading restaurants in Udon Thani. It is certainly among the more costly but portions are generous with a good range of Thai and European dishes on offer, including a great range of deserts. Good Everything is located almost directly opposite the main entrance to Nong Prajak Park to the west of the city centre.
Central Plaza
The Central Plaza complex at the heart of Udon Thani has a massive selection of dining choices. The ground floor of the complex (go down the escalator on arrival) is where you buy a ticket in advance and enter the Food Park where you will find lots of Thai food. On the 4th floor is where you will find lots of chain restaurants offering western and oriental dishes. (Santa Fe Steak, MK Restaurant, The Pizza Company etc). There is also McDonalds & KFC on the first floor at the rear of the complex.
Udon Thani Night Plaza
In both sections of the giant night market in Udon Thani you will an abundance of Thai restaurants which are hugely popular and inexpensive. There is also a huge amount of food stalls if you would rather have a "take away".
