There are few things better than having the attention of a pair of hands playfully exploring your body, and that is just about what most of the Udon Thani massage parlours provide in the ferang alley part of the city. Yes, there are skilled workers but most are just girls looking to make some hard cash, and to be honest, even the less skilled hand still provides some welcome attention and you just know you are going to leave in at least a slightly better mood than you were in when you entered the massage parlour. Some people see massage parlours as being little more than licensed brothels, but I would say that is not quite the case in Udon Thani, although perhaps only just!
Yes there are 'extras' available, but in many cases, you may not get a full service, although some girls just about throw themselves at you for 'boom boom'. When I first started looking around to see what the massage parlours in Udon Thani had to offer, I did so not expecting a great deal as no-one talks about it anywhere, either online or locally, but in a 5 week period, having spent a few baht to get answers, I got there in the end. Prices for each massage parlour are normally very clearly displayed, and those that can speak at least a little English, will display prices in English too. You will see these all around the ferang Udon Thani nightlife area. Most of the massage parlours have been created in the same way, with a small open section at the front of the building and three curtained 'booths' behind, for a little privacy, although some have segregated rooms upstairs as well. They are generally very clean, although not always tidy, and fitted with air conditioning, fans, toilets and showers. Do not expect much from the toilet and shower facilities though. They are basic and are in place for functionality as opposed to their aesthetic value. All the toilets I have seen in these massage parlours are what we are used to back in the west, a proper toilet with seat and cistern. Some will have toilet tissue in place, while others do not.
The style of massage you are likely to get varies from girl to girl, but they are all nice and relaxing. You can have a strong massage if you wish, and if your bones and muscles can stand the extra pressure placed on them. If there is any let down in Udon Thani, then it is the lack of 'real beauties' that work at these massage parlours, and if they manage to engage you in conversation outside their shop, they can be very persistent, although mostly in a nice way.

Safety First
As with most of the bar girls in Udon Thani, the massage parlour girls carry or make sure they have easy access to condoms if they are thinking about having sexual intercourse. They do also take further precautions, when they feel they need to (unprotected sex, split condoms etc) by attending a clinic on Friday evenings, next to the Day and Night girly bar complex. Here they can get a blood sample taken and a result back within an hour to see if they are clear of any sexually transmitted viruses including HIV.
That said, for your own peace of mind, do not assume any sexual partner is 'clean', and should you ever want to enter in to a relationship with any of the 'working' girls, take her a hospital where both of you can provide a blood sample for inspection. I have been made aware of one place where a soapy massage, plus 'extra's' is available in Udon Thani, and that is what was once known as the Tonkoon Hotel. Today it is called Grand Naga Hotel and is found on the Makkaeng Road, heading toward Nong Prajak Park. The following information is not verified by myself, as it is probably the only nightlife location that I have not yet visited. It has the typical fishbowl arrangement for the soapy massage, with an offer for a two hour Thai massage for 350 baht and oil massage for 550 baht although I have read reports that up to 2000 baht is charged for the extra services. The girls are pale skinned and red hot by all accounts, and the extras are guaranteed. I have also been advised that some girls can speak at least some English. The extras maybe only by hand, which are sometimes offered without asking for any additional money. It would be a good idea to offer and nice gesture to give a tip, especially if you are thinking about going back to see her for another session.
A number of the other massage parlours, the ones in 'ferangland' have Jacuzzi baths advertised for typically about 600 baht. Whether or not these become soapy massages or not, again I cannot say for certain, but would not be surprised under the right circumstances. Could you get the extra's here as well? I would imagine if you could convince a girl to join you for a soapy massage, she may well be inclined to oblige in one way or another. Gay Massage Parlours In Udon ThaniThere is one Gay Massage Parlour In Udon Thani that I am aware of, called Gentle Healthy Massage. I have not used this parlour and it is unlikely that I ever will but can at least tell you where to find it. Gentle Healthy Massage parlour is about a 20 minute walk from the Day and Night Complex, on the Adunyadet Road as you head towards Nong Sim park. The massage parlour is on the left as you head up the road, not far from the junction with Phon Phisai Road.
