Need to Hire a Car with a Driver?
Finding a car rental that provides an English speaking driver in Udon Thani is far from easy, and while there are some drivers that have a very basic command of the language, their understanding of the language leaves a lot to be desired.
I do know one lady (Ong) who can provide such a service and her spoken
and written English is good (enough to help you out with everything).
The daily charge is at the rate of 1800 baht with fuel and other
costs (food, admission tickets etc) as extras.
Half day rates are 1000 baht plus fuel costs, admission charges etc. (see below for details)
The fees for this service is applicable between 07:00 to 18:00.
Outside of these hours will incur and additional fee.
Maximum of 5 adult passenger at any one time

Hire Cost
Ong will work with you to establish the approximate time you require to provide the cost prior to accepting a booking. That fee will be guaranteed and should your day extend beyond the normal hire hours through no fault of yours, no additional fees will apply.
However, if you cause delays through your actions or tardiness, and extend the rental period beyond the normal hire hours - you will be charged extra on the day.

- The normal hours for this rental service is between 07:00 in the morning and 18:00 in the evening, 7 days a week.
- To hire outside of these times will incur an additional fee of 200 baht per hour (or up to the hour.

Payment & Cancellations Policy
When booking this car and driver rental service you are required to
submit payment for the cost of the hire.
There are a few methods of payment available.
1. If you are in Thailand - you may pay by bank transfer
or cash deposit in to my Kasikorn bank account.
2. If you are in the UK, you may pay by bank transfer
or cash deposit in to my Lloyds bank account.
3. Alternatively, payments can be made through Paypal
but this will incur an additional fee of 3.2%
You can wait until you arrive in Thailand and submit a cash transfer to the Kasikorn account providing payment is made in advance of the first date of hire.
Bank account or Paypal account details will be provided once a booking is accepted and
your preferred method of payment has been agreed.
On receipt of this payment, your booking is confirmed and
your payment will be transferred to Ong's bank.
Once payment has been submitted and your booking is confirmed, you will be refunded in full if you cancel the booking at least 7 days before the date(s) you have booked.
Cancellations within 7 days of the booked date(s) will not be refunded
Ong will contact you the day before your scheduled booking to arrange a meeting place
and time. You be picked up and dropped-off anywhere in Udon Thani city and surrounding villages within 5m of the ring road.

It is impossible to provide a fixed figure for the fuel costs to any destination as the cost at the pump changes almost on a daily basis.
The typical cost at present is around 35 - 40 baht per litre.
The fuel economy of the car is about 13 kilometers per litre, so we can produce an approximate total in advance to give you a rough idea of the costs prior to booking.

Ong's Car
The car is a Honda Mobilio 1500 cc, in excellent condition and very well maintained.
It is a 7-seater, so plenty of room for groups and/or bags etc. Although it is a big car, there is a maximum of 5 adult passenger permitted at any one time.

I have known Ong for many years, having first spoken to her in September 2010. Her spoken and written English are quite reasonable for a lady from the Issan region, having never learned the language at school.
She took it upon herself to learn while she was working in a hotel in Udon Thani so she could understand and help the English speaking visitors better. She is as nice a lady as you are going to find in Thailand, not too deeply religious but reveres Buddha of course and goes to many temples to earn merit throughout the year. |
Ong does not drink alcohol or take drugs so can be sure she is in total control of her vehicle throughout your day. She listens to British and American music so you have the option to enjoy some easy-listening of familiar music en route to your destination or you can try and listen to more traditional Thai songs, going back perhaps 40 years or more in some cases.
